International exchange students
An exchange student temporarily lives in a foreign country and attends courses. The exchange period at UGent lasts a minimum of one month and a maximum of twelve months. The exchange student does not get a diploma from UGent.

PhD candidates
Ghent University has five Doctoral Schoolsto group doctoral researchers together. These schools provide support to doctoral students through specialized courses as well transferable skills training. They contribute to a quality culture in research, and take care of the social and international visibility of the doctoral degree.
