Staying in Ghent as a cross-border worker

Do you work in Ghent but live in France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, or Switzerland? Register with the city administration.

What is it about?

You can work in Ghent while keeping your main residence in France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands or Germany. You return to your address daily or weekly.
If you have Swiss nationality and live in Switzerland or one of the countries mentioned above, you can also follow this procedure.

As a cross-border worker, you will receive an Annex 15 (Dutch), but not an electronic residence card. You will not be registered in the National Register.

How much does it cost?

The application and the Annex 15 are free of charge.

What do I need?

Proof of employment (employment contract).

Are you an EU citizen? Include your identity card or passport.

Are you a non-EU citizen? Please also include the following documents:

  • Your valid passport
  • Your valid residence card from the country where you live
  • Your type B work permit or proof of exemption

What are the steps?

  1. Make an appointment at Migration.
  2. At your appointment, you will receive Annex 15.
